Bob Glassman had heard it before, “Bob, you’ve sold that account, stop worrying about the installation/implementation and move onto the next sale”. It wasn’t in Bob’s DNA to do so. Growing up managing and being part of ownership where he worked, his customers were like family. Added to this, in the late nineties, he recognized there were three paradigm shifts in telecommunications that were going to change the business world forever – competition for local service, use of the internet (incl VoIP and bandwidth requirements) and mobility. He could no longer sell one carrier, limited products and technologies. He must listen to what the client wanted and become an Advocate for clients in terms of how he worked.
Surrounded by a “who’s who” of sub contractors that covered every aspect of telecommunications – from cabling to telephony to ISP to IT, he started Commtrol in 2002. It worked. Over the next six years, Commtrol took on about fifty clients and retained all but one. This was and is a track record unheard of in telecommunications.
In 2008, Bob was working on moving a large client to Aurora. It involved the type of installation that was intriguing – big bandwidth, a complex call center and intricate detail in planning for disaster recovery.
He worked with the Account Executive from Windstream and was really impressed at her tremendous support, especially in lieu of the fact that a lion’s share of the business was going to other service providers.
The next year, Windstream Account Executive Virginia Schmidt, joined Commtrol, doubling the ability to support clients and adding a corporate, professional attitude that greatly enhanced Commtrol’s service and visibility throughout NE Ohio.
In 2017 Yocheved Belsky joined Commtrol to enhance its mission to place a primary focus on tailoring solutions to the needs of schools, districts, and educational institutions.
